Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? Well, it has warmed up a wee bit. Above freezing temperatures have been very welcome! I need to get going with Christmas shopping, Christmas decorating, and Christmas Food Preparation however. My kid and his fiancee have picked a wedding date. Actually, it's
the second date they selected. They were procrastinating in moving forward with things and lost the facility they wanted for the date they wanted. So, they changed the date... and booked the facility. November 1st next year. (Okay... phew... this date is better, as are the preliminary discussions about what and where. I'm just the mother of the groom, so I have to learn to button my mouth. Not my strong suit. But indeed, this is a better selection on so
many counts! I'm not supposed to have opinions, so don't pass along our little chat.) And, the server / hard drive that crashed at my clinic, along with our scheduler that was on it, could not be fully recovered. We have data up to 2021... So, we are having to rebuild our schedule from scratch. It's been a nightmare for sure, but 1) THANK GOODNESS for paper charts! Seriously! I have been the hold out in moving to online charting... and at this point,
my 'old-fashioned-ness' has at least enabled us to have patient files and contact information! 2) Our clients are FANTASTIC! They have been so understanding about this all. We feel very fortunate. 3) Our staff has been great about 'going with the flow'! Those are the silver linings in all of this, and reasons to be grateful! So... That's it for the updates... On with the show!

Four Leg BLOG: Lifestyle Modification And Exercise For Osteoarthritis
|
|
Another research article crossed my path recently and it got me to thinking about this topic – lifestyle modification and exercise. This particular article was a systematic review… and I’m just going to hop to the conclusion.
“This systematic review supports the inclusion of additional lifestyle modifications to a traditional exercise program, for pain intensity, joint stiffness and physical function for individuals with knee OA.” Okay. Honestly, I didn’t find this to be earth shattering! As an owner of two knees and various
other less than perfect joints, it makes sense. Exercise and don’t overdo it. My knees, hips, ankles, and shoulders can tell you this… without research to back it up!

Have You Checked it Out?
|
|
For over a year, I worked with Physiotec/Wibbi (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it! I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises.
There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc! NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec/Wibbi (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec/wibbi as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your
question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec/Wibbi website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!) I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone! Until next time... Cheers! Laurie
