Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? I might not LOOK delicate, but let me tell you about the week I've had. Last weekend, while reaching over the side of our new UWT, I rested my body weight on the edge of the glass and the rib cage on my right went 'bloop-bloop' (dislocated inwards in two sections). This is an old injury, and
by my accounts, I think I re-'broke' the costochondral junction of a section of ribs in two places. So... that's causing me some grief. Then... on Tuesday, I was kneeling and went to get up... and my ankle shifted and crunches and I couldn't weight bear on that leg any longer. Evaluation by myself and two of the therapists that work in the clinic determined that my talus subluxed anteriorly because I literally have no ligaments in my ankles due to multiple twisted ankles in Jr
High, Sr. High, and University. So, this week has seen me on crutches, pain killers, I have a PEMF loop taped to my ribs, I laser daily, I mobilize my ankle, I sleep with ginger or castor oil on my joints, and I've started drinking red wine again! This all means that everything else I want to do has taken a back seat, and I dread going to bed which is when everything hurts, and just shifting position and rolling in bed is agony. At this point, I'll
take your healing thoughts... and red wine suggestions! Okay, That's it for the updates... On with the show!

Four Leg BLOG: Head Tilting In Dogs
|
|
I came across what I think to be a super cute study! Sommese A, Miklósi Á, Pogány Á, Temesi A, Dror S, Fugazza C. An exploratory analysis
of head-tilting in dogs. Anim Cogn. 2022 Jun;25(3):701-705. So, I wanted to share it! This research explores sensory processing asymmetry in dogs, focusing on head-tilting in response to verbal cues. Previous studies demonstrated that dogs exhibit lateralized brain functions, such as turning their heads left during
familiar spoken commands and right when hearing meaningless stimuli. Neuroimaging confirmed that dogs show right-hemisphere specialization for processing speech, particularly praise words. Continue reading - click below...

Have You Checked it Out?
|
|
For over a year, I worked with Physiotec/Wibbi (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it! I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises.
There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc! NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec/Wibbi (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec/wibbi as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your
question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec/Wibbi website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!) I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!
