Four Leg BLOG: The Hamstring Stretch As A New Screening Tool for Canine Fibrotic Myopathy.
As veterinarians, animal physical therapists, veterinary technicians, and rehabilitation professionals, we often encounter complex musculoskeletal conditions in our canine patients. One such condition, fibrotic myopathy of the hamstring
muscles, is a rare but debilitating disease primarily affecting young, male, working-line German Shepherds, though it can occur in other breeds like Belgian Malinois, St. Bernards, and Rottweilers. A recent study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science (Birdwhistell et al., 2025) introduces a promising, non-invasive, and cost-effective screening method—the hamstring stretch angle measurement—that could revolutionize how we diagnose and monitor this condition. Here’s what you need to
know. Continue reading - click below...

Have You Checked it Out?
For over a year, I worked with Physiotec/Wibbi (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it! I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises.
There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc! NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec/Wibbi (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec/wibbi as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your
question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec/Wibbi website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!) I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!
