BONUS Communication
So last week's blog talked about a strange limb posturing of a dog following a TPLO.  It was a question and answer, and I gave my opinions, and invited you to give me your thoughts... so here's a great response to share:

Hi Laurie,

I think what this therapist is describing is sometimes referred to as a pivot shift and it may have been present pre-op, certain breeds like Rotties have this problem.

It is likely related to an alignment problem and certainly the TPLO can exacerbate this - some surgeons do intra-op corrections for this but this is also controversial.

I'm not sure if there is anything that you could do with PT to help this?  I know the gait looks weird.  If it appears to be causing lameness I would recommend the owner go back to the surgeon for assessment.
