Hello Friends!
So I'm going to start out by telling you that I just finished a book this past week:
Midas Touch - Why Some Entrepreneurs Get Rich - and Why Most Don't, by Donald Trump & Robert Kiyosaki. The book is laid out based on 5 key entrepreneurial principles that are represented as the 5 fingers on your hand:
1. Strength of Character - Turning bad luck into good luck
2. F.O.C.U.S. - Follow One Course Until Successful
3. Brand - What you stand for
4. Relationships - You can't do a good deal with a bad partner
5. Little things That Count - What successful entrepreneurs do that others don't
Essentially, 'the boys' relay their respective thoughts on each topic and provide examples of where they have applied these principles. I was really hoping that I could say that I picked up a great gem of wisdom from this book. Unfortunately, it just didn't happen for me with this one. Not a bad book - just not for me!
But... it has sparked me in making a New Year's resolution (which I rarely make) - to read more books! I have heard of many great business people that read a book a week! (They must not have kids!) I think I'd like to try for a book a month! My favourites tend to be non-fiction self-help / inspirational, or 'life changing' fiction. (Not Oprah Winfrey's book of the month selections. I tried that about 10 years ago... & MAN, that lady is into some depressing novels!) I'll keep you posted if I can follow through, and read something fabulous!
Okay - so resolution aside - here's what I have lined up for you this week...
