Trying for Balance
Hey There!!
So this week, I am trying to find more balance in life.  I started the week  with my 2am finishing of the last newsletter, and then on Monday had a wee bit of a panic attack that swung into 4 hours of on-off vomiting.  So I'm guessing the my body is trying to slap me upside the head to say 'Slow down girl'!  So today (Sunday as I write this) I slowed down.  I've been out in the yard, in the sunshine, digging out weeds and transplanting plants.  I love working in the yard.  It's a never ending chore...but if you don't strive for perfection (and don't utilize peripheral vision to see all of the undone parts) then it's quite therapeutic!  So  as I write this, I am taking a yard break.  I stink to 'high heaven' like bug spray... (I'm incredibly tasty to mosquitos) and I have dirt under my fingernails... and I can't wait to get back out there.  I may even continue planting tomorrow!

So to get on with it and get back out there... here's what I have for you this week!

Members' Learning... SDFT vs DDFT

This week I have a video for members.  This one was inspired by a question I received a while back in regards to assessing the progression / regression of a SDFT repair.  In an e-mail, I passed along how I look at assessing these tendons individually.  I had a patient a few years back that had received a surgical repair following a cross country ski accident where the SDFT were severed in one front leg... the owner was a human surgeon with a penchant for research... and he kept me on my toes as we exchanged literature reviews each time he came in.  Now this video has nothing to do with literature reviews... but more to do with a common sense, anatomical rationale way of looking at these lesions.  I hope you find it useful!

Members, you'll need to LOG IN, click on VIDEOS, scroll down to the very bottom to VIDEO TRAINING 42.

Blog - IVDD Regression

This week's blog is about the regression of a non-surgical IVDD case.  It's a question and answer column... but I like the 'thinking' (not just mine... but the question asker as well) that it shows!

My upcoming schedule

Just a quick update on my life coming up...
I head out to South Africa on Friday... and it will take to Sunday for me to get there!  I'll teach for 6 days, spend one extra day visiting and watching a friend and colleague - Lesley Goff (from Australia) - do one of her 6 days of teaching... and then back home!
So:
1) If I don't get back to your e-mails in a timely manner for the last week and a half of August... I'm sorry and I hope you'll understand why!
2) Look up the 'Night of the Long Knives'.  It's a 100 year old legend.  I'm hoping it won't come true... and I'm hoping that Nelson Mandela continues to live just a little longer (just in case it does)...
3) I should be able to implement my new payment system at the beginning of August - for those of you waiting for it... but I need to be around to work out any bugs!  So I can't be away when we make that switch.

That's it for now!
Have a great week gang!  I'll talk to you next week from South Africa!

Cheers,
Laurie
