Things I didn't think I'd learn.. |
|
And I thought you might like to know some of the odd and unusual things that I learned: - Women have slower digestive tracts than men, which is why we ladies tend towards constipation more readily
- Networking is the biggest key to success
- There is an interesting communication trend towards taking longer to gather a patient history and talk to clients in such as way as to gain 'Adherence' to an exercise program (which suggests that the patient WANTS to do the exercises vs compliance - which insinuates that they are only doing exercises because YOU want them to.)
- I learned that there is a very high incidence of physiotherapist
injuries within the first 5 years of one's career. The presenter figured that it was due to a lack of 'conditioning' for going into a very physical practice.
- I will even admit to going to a lecture on sex toys & tools for persons with disabilities... all I can say is that it was very eye opening, and that things were passed around that I never thought I would ever touch in my
lifetime!
- I listened to an amazing 'funding pitch' (sort of a Shark's Tank / Dragon's Den idea & business pitch) for a physio that is part of a team establishing a Physio Training Program to teach PT's how to do Rehabilitation for Aids Patients in Sub-Sahara Africa. Her pitch was so inspiring, so well thought out, with materials ready to go, and the knowledge of how many millions of people it
could affect, and because she had an external offer for matched funding... she walked away with $11,000.00 for her project!!!!
- And I learned about an amazing physiotherapy resource tool that I had never heard of (amazingly)... and that I think many of you would find fascinating & useful! http://www.physio-pedia.com/Main_Page
- Oh... and I learned that my son in grade 12 (who is graduating this week) received a grade of 100% on his Math 31 (Calculus) final exam!
Okay... so on with the show!

Blog: Commentary on Toe Grips by Dr. Buzby herself!!!
|
Dear Laurie,
Thank you so much for including ToeGrips in your training series! I loved hearing your take on ToeGrips vs booties and appreciate the opportunity to share some of my thoughts.
A client of mine came up with the idea for ToeGrips, and for me, it was love at first sight. Since dogs use their nails for traction, I was instantly attracted to the idea of working with the
dog’s natural biomechanics.
I see the product as superior to booties in 5 areas:
