FourLeg: A cool new dance... all the pain-free kids are doing it!

Published: Mon, 11/16/15

Everybody's doing a brand new dance now...
Come on baby do the neuroplasticity dance!
Yep... my nerd-status is well established with this one!  You will get a kick out of this week's Training Video.  (I have many times been asked "Have you ever 'watched' yourself when you lecture?"  No... I prefer not to!!!  Heaven forbid I act normal after realizing what a dork I appear to be!)

So this fall, I've had a run on sporting dogs with back pain.  No neurologic deficits, and more reactive & painful than a straight forward facet joint issue.  I would call them mildly discogenic.  So, what should be done for these dogs?  (PS  It's NOT crate rest!)

Anyways, enough of the chit-chat...  Just get on with the show!  And it's literally a show this week!
Member's Training Videos 130: The Back Pain Dance
Neuroplasticity means that the nervous system & brain are 'plastic' or 'changeable'.  Chronic pain science tells us that many cases of long-term pain are not because of biomechanic or inflammatory issues... but instead a pain processing disorder.  And we are starting to understand how to impact these systems.  So, here in lies the invention of the back pain dance (for people & dogs).  Have fun with this!!

So, this is a Q & A about a puppy with SIJ issues and compensatory muscle atrophy, disuse, and poor limb use.  Will this puppy grow normally?  Read on to see the discussion and thoughts.

Should I be concerned about hip dysplasia in the future?
So have a great week everyone!

Until next time... Cheers!

P.S. Helpful Hints for members...
If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having any issues with watching the videos, you will want to cut and paste the following url into your browser bar:
http://www.fourleg.com
Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the website (https:), and takes them to the site via that prefix... but the rest of the pages aren't secured, only the sign up page... and if you go to watch the videos on the https:... site, then it won't allow you to watch them. So going to the http:// version will make everything turn out okay!!!

As members, If you are wanting to search a topic... then locate the white search bar in upper right hand side of the screen when you log in & are on the members' side of the site.  This is an easy way to find content in all formats!
