You are receiving this e-blast because you signed up for these e-blasts on FourLeg.com.  If for some reason, this makes you unhappy... then unsubscribe at the bottom.  But for everyone else... HEY!  Let's get on with the show!
Warm weather... balanced mind!
And getting stuff done...
So I think this was a good week! It was pretty much a fabulously warm sunny week.  I spent some time outside, I did some work on the computer, wrote an article, had good chats with staff & coworkers, planted the garden.  All good things!

Kid 1 moved back home from university, and we are all adjusting to that!  (Momzilla had to come out last Monday and lay her foot down that Hotel Mom & Dad was not open to kids that didn't get off their butts to look for summer jobs!  So by Wednesday, he was able to get a hold of his former employer and will be restarting his old job at A & W cooking burgers!)

Kid 2 is playing rugby, and I love to watch!  The rules are so complicated, I really don't know what's going on half the time, but I cheer my fool head off with the passes, hits, and 'trys'.  I've stopped yelling "Don't hurt my baby's ears!" when they go into a scrum.  Apparently it was embarrassing!

I'm back on track with my coaching / mentoring calls.  And what they have done for me is to help me be & feel a bit more balanced in life.  Which takes me to the picture below. These are my planted pots!  I'll work on a picture of the vegetable garden with stuff starts to poke through.

And exciting is that the 2nd ed of Veterinary Physiotherapy came in the mail to me!  Hooray.  My chapter is no 18!  It's an expanded version and I'm looking forward to diving into the new chapters!  Check it out - Wiley Blackwell Publishing - ed McGowan & Goff.

And lastly, Mother's Day was lovely.  We went to the cottage on Saturday and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather, and on Sunday, I did a wee bit more planting!  (I bought too many plants last weekend when I was so excited about the warm weather.)

Anyways, enough of the chit-chat...  On to YOUR learning for this week!

Blog:  I don't know yet!
Over the last few weeks (and years really), I’ve had a number of encounters as it pertains to conservative management of a variety of different cases.  As members are aware (or should be), if you go into the Articles section on FourLeg, you’ll be able to find a number of protocols for conservative management of – Hip Dysplasia, Patellar Luxation, Cruciate Insufficiency, Wobblers, & IVDD, for example.  They’re there to guide you and provide a logical rationale for treatment!

Occasionally, I take a bit of heat for being controversial, for going against convention, for saying that things can be done conservatively when the veterinary norm has been to offer surgery.  I get it.  I’m an ‘outsider’ to the industry, saying things that are contrary to what’s been taught in vet school or what research shows.  But here’s the thing, a little common sense goes a long way!

P.S. Helpful Hints for NEW members...
If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having any issues with watching the videos, you will want to cut and paste the following url into your browser bar:
http://www.fourleg.com
Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the website (https:), and takes them to the site via that prefix... but the rest of the pages aren't secured, only the sign up page... and if you go to watch the videos on the https:... site, then it won't allow you to watch them. So going to the http:// version will make everything turn out okay!!!

As members, If you are wanting to search a topic... then locate the white search bar in upper right hand side of the screen when you log in & are on the members' side of the site.  This is an easy way to find content in all formats!
