Pain & Shiny things
Yep... full scale of interesting things in this e-blast!
So I'm teaching a course this weekend - Advanced Canine Rehabilitation for the Animal Rehab Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.  So... I'm busy.  I'm tired.  And I've not had much of a life this week!  Just busy busy busy.  But so far the course is going well!
  • 8 students.
  • 4 days.
  • 44 different canine participants!
  • And a chocolate zucchini cake
But I am looking forward to my next day off!

Anyhoo... enough about me, here's your learning for this week!

But first, a cartoon!

This is is my attempt as BASIC pain pharmacology.  This is the extent of what I know as a rehab practitioner (not a prescribing practitioner).

Blog: Do you fall victim to shiny object syndrome?
My husband once convinced me to crawl up into a tree (actually a willow bush – but ‘tree’ sounds better) to look inside a magpie nest.  He had told me that looking into the nests of crows and magpies was always interesting because these birds liked to collect things.  As a kid, he and his brother would do this and had found bottle caps, pop tabs, shiny rocks, pieces of twine, plastic, and various other ‘treasures’ in the nests.

But what does this have to do with your animal rehab practice?  Well it actually ties in nicely with last week’s blog post about massage, manual therapy, and dry needling for neck pain.  I want to talk about ‘shiny object syndrome’.
Shiny, Shiny, Shiny!!!

Hi Laurie,

I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much I am thoroughly enjoying your web membership. Your presentations are awesome. Your enthusiasm and personality are so inspirational!

I am planning on starting a new position with a neurology practice to grow their rehab business (not only neuro but orthopedic, geriatric, fitness, sports med etc...).   This has been an incredible resource as I navigate "getting started".

Thank you so much for your efforts in expanding knowledge and proficiency in this field!

Best Regards,
LT

And that's a wrap!  So have a great week everyone!

Until next time... Cheers!

P.S. Helpful Hints for members...
If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having any issues with watching the videos, you will want to cut and paste the following url into your browser bar:
http://www.fourleg.com
Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the website (https:), and takes them to the site via that prefix... but the rest of the pages aren't secured, only the sign up page... and if you go to watch the videos on the https:... site, then it won't allow you to watch them. So going to the http:// version will make everything turn out okay!!!

As members, If you are wanting to search a topic... then locate the white search bar in upper right hand side of the screen when you log in & are on the members' side of the site.  This is an easy way to find content in all formats!
