Let's get on with the show! Chronic Pain & Exercise Therapies & Brain Changes after a Cruciate Injury My week in review:
Well this past week, I took a couple of days off - giving me 6 days off in a row. To be honest, I forgot about booking the time off until a client had Facebook
messaged me to say that she didn't have an appointment on Thursday because I wasn't in! (You know, knowing you have time off ahead of time is more joyous than finding out the day before.) Oh well! So I figured I'd be able to tackle some big projects! Nope! But I did get caught up on a number of things! And I'm going to take that as a 'win'! I've got one more day to go... and there are still plenty of tasks on my 'to do' list, so I'll be busy on
Monday... and then back to the regular grind!
But enough about me, onto you and your learning this week!

Blog: Knee Injuries and Changes in the Brain
|
I like this blog! Yep, I can be biased! I like this blog because the inspiration for it made me think! And because when it was posted to my Facebook page, it elicited comments & discussion. I like that! So, firstly, the article stated that Researchers at The Ohio
State University Wexner Medical Center found that regaining full function after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is more than just physical—it requires retraining the brain. Essentially, parts of the brain associated with leg movement lag behind during recovery from ACL injury as determined by brain activity scans while a person flexed & extended the knee (comparing normal adults and those with ACL injuries). The brain simply didn’t process the information from the
knee correctly.
The brain scans showed that instead of relying on movement or spatial awareness...

I did get a wee bit of feedback about my Social Media Event - to get all of us posting, tweeting, sharing, snap-chatting, instagramming, etc to encourage owners to do some extra small exercise activities with their dogs, even if just a 3-5 minute play in the house! What do you all think of #GetUpAndGoWithFido? So now we just need some organization... (I find I have tons of ideas, and way too little time.) Any volunteers to help create this 'movement'? Could be fun and good exposure for all of us! Throw me an e-mail and maybe we can create a
little group!

And that's a wrap! Have a great week ahead everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
