FourLeg: Say NO to SOAP!

Published: Mon, 06/12/17

You are receiving this e-blast because you signed up for these e-blasts on FourLeg.com.  If for some reason, this makes you unhappy... then unsubscribe at the bottom.  But for everyone else... HEY!  Let's get on with the show!

Exercises, SOAP, DIY & a SitBit!

Here's what's been going on:

Kid news:  Kid 1 is doing his university spring session midterms right now.  Kid 2's knee is hanging in there (surgery for July 4) and the clinic for his arm got back to us (he broke it 3 years ago and for the last 2 years we've been trying to navigate the system to get surgery... he needs 6mm removed from his ulna... I bet I know vets that could get him in this week!!!).  Anyways, the wrist clinic offered us July 5th for surgery!  Ack! They're going to see if they can schedule him for August instead!

Yard news:  I ordered 100 seedling trees / shrubs to plant around the yard (it's an old farmstead... so lots of room), and so my 'workout regimen' includes digging and more digging.

Clinic news:  We're getting a pool - an Endless Swim Spa to augment our physio, UWT, ther-ex set up! Things are going to get crazy busy here soon!

Four Leg news: I'm working with Physiotec / Canine exercise solutions to create a new exercise platform for them!  It's a lot of work... but the majority of the videos have been shot.  I'm working on the descriptions and layout!  It will be a great place for rehab folks to create a home exercise program / handout / video tool for their clients.  (And it includes so many more exercises, etc than their original platform!)  Stay tuned!

Conversations:  I had one interesting comment on the Placebo blog:

Hi Laurie,  just finished reading your blog about placebo effect.  You are so right.  I am a general practitioner that does a little bit of rehab incorporated into my practice.  I really enjoy your blog and newsletters.

I laugh with some clients since just coming to see me sometimes is enough (or appears to be) to help the animal improve.

However I needed to tell you about one case of classic placebo.  This dog would have episodes of trouble breathing--almost like a panic attack but we attributed it to asthma/allergies.  During one after hours episode, the owner had given all her meds and it still wasn't working so she called me at home  ( a long time trusted client).  I talked to the dog which helped a bit.  She then drove to the clinic and walked the dog to the door--and voila--dog all better!  Talk about placebo.

Have a good week

Dr Nancy Ridder

Blog: Say NO to SOAP
I hate SOAP. I don’t use SOAP.
I use my own charting categories, and I’ll suggest you might like to do the same!
Did I make you raise your eyebrows at the title?  Just a little?  Likely not!  Ah, disappointing…

Okay, so when we have interns come to our clinic, they are asked to provide an example of a SOAP note.  I always tell them, we don’t use traditional SOAP notes.  I don’t think they fit an outpatient practice...

I NEED YOU!... for a survey please!
I've had 14 responses so far... NOT BAD, but I'm going to give it one more week before I compile the information.

Okay, so it's your experiences I'm looking for... and your recommendations!
I've created a survey to formulate a list of beloved products that people are using, recommending, renting, selling, etc!

So, please join in and give me your recommendations.  Then wait for me to compile the info and get back to Members with the results.

Let's SHARE, LEARN, & GROW together!
(And it's only 11 questions)

Please & Thank you!

Get to the SURVEY!!!

And that's a wrap!  Have a great week ahead everyone!

Until next time... Cheers!
