You are receiving this e-blast because you signed up for these e-blasts on FourLeg.com. If for some reason, this makes you unhappy... then unsubscribe at the bottom. But for everyone else... HEY! Let's get on with the show! FINALLY getting caught up... a wee bit!
Well the first day of Fall landed with snow on the ground in the morning. Goodness Gracious! Why can't we ever have a graceful, slow to enter fall???
Both boys came for a visit this weekend - so that was awesome! We
are working hard at maintaining connections and establishing adult relationships with them. (Okay... not so adult just yet, it's lots of "Why would you leave your computer in the back seat of the truck to get stolen?" and "You do SO know how to make a salad!")
And we have a skunk around the yard! I was fairly proud of the big white Borzoi in that she had a recall when I called her
off from chasing it! No sprayed dogs. We set out a skunk trap... and the next day found that we had trapped a cat! So, the skunk trap is still set. (Not to worry, we relocate the critters... they're actually kind of cute!)

But enough about me, onto YOUR learning for this week!

BLOG: Should you limit the modalities you use in a treatment session? |
|
Some of you may have seen this question and answer on the VetRehab Chat group…. I wanted to expand on my answer a bit further here. For those of you who didn’t see it or are not on the VetRehab chat group, I’ll give you the gist of the question.
A
vet asked the group about whether or not using multiple modalities in one treatment session had the potential to reduce the effectiveness of either one treatment modality on its own. i.e. should she use LASER and TENS for hip osteoarthritis pain? A colleague of the questioner had told her to only use modality per session, but she had learned to use both. Which of them was correct?
Here’s my reply...

I'm excited to share these:
1) I've been listening to an excellent audio book: The Brain's Way of Healing by Norman Doidge, MD. It's a fabulous discussion about neuroplasticity and the brain. He has an earlier book as well, The Brain that Changes
Itself. I recommend both (even though I've not listened to the one yet)!! I use Audiobooks.com.
3) And a while back my business partner
sourced a website that was able to get / give access for a number of different journals. It might not have them all, but maybe 50% is better than 0%. Worth a shot, if you don't have library access to source articles: http://sci-hub.io/

So have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!

P.S. Are you looking to include SHOCKWAVE in your practice?
|
I have just the thing! I highly recommend the unit that I have and use at my clinic. And now, I can bring it to you!
And if you're interested, give me a shout and I'll happily send along all of the details. RADIAL SHOCKWAVE rules! I am loving it as an adjunct to my other therapies, and am seeing amazing results with it when used on osteoarthritis, tendinosis lesions, and lumbosacral disc disease. (There are more things it can treat, but these three things keep it hopping
at my clinic!)
The price is right (in Canadian Dollars), and I can ship anywhere in North America. (For those of you overseas, I can put you in touch with local distributors nearer to you!)
Okay... so check it out if you've ever been interested!

P.S. Helpful Hints for NEW members... |
If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having any issues with watching the videos, you will want to cut and paste the following url into your browser bar: http://www.fourleg.com Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the website (https:), and takes them to the site via that prefix... but the rest of the pages aren't secured, only the sign up page... and if you go to watch the videos on
the https:... site, then it won't allow you to watch them. So going to the http:// version will make everything turn out okay!!!
As members, If you are wanting to search a topic... then locate the white search bar in upper right hand side
of the screen when you log in & are on the members' side of the site. This is an easy way to find content in all formats!
And check out www.fourleg.com/Help to address any FAQ regarding website or membership
difficulties.
