Just a couple of updates:
Okay... so last Monday, travelling home from Sweden took 29.5 hours from pillow to pillow. Delayed flights, missed flights, rerouting via multiple flights, and then a final delayed flight. I'm still a bit jet lagged!!!
This week ahead, we are gearing up for my clinic's 15th Birthday!!! Amazing! We survived against many political odds. We've thrived against many 'nay-sayers'. So, we're celebrating with an open house on Saturday! If you're in Calgary by chance - come on by!!! :)
Lastly, I NEED YOUR HELP...
Do you own a VIBRATION PLATFORM? Then I need to talk to you! I am working on a FourLeg training video for you about this cool tool... but there really isn't much in the literature specific to canine uses. So, I want YOUR feedback on HOW you use it? Your CONTAINDICATIONS / CAUTIONS? Any success stories or horror stories? Fill me in so that I can share! Just REPLY to this e-mail! Please & Thank You!!

Okay, enough about me, onto your learning for the week...
These cat cartoons really crack me up!!!

So, this week I was referred an interesting case. It was a nice little Australian Cattle Dog that competes in agility. Back in October he suffered a presumed slip or something (came back lame on retrieving a ball on uneven ground) and has been in hobbles ever since (5 months). So, I was asked to help come up with a plan for what to do. To be honest, everyone
else treating him (he’s not local to me) is rather scared to progress him, and frankly they don’t know how, and that’s what I was asked to come up with.
They aren’t alone! I see this often from many different non-physiotherapist practitioners. Why non-physios (PTs)? I think that when we (physios) treat humans and learned about exercise prescription, we were made to feel very comfortable with pushing the body. We were given a solid grounding in tissue healing and what to do at each stage. We know
that in order to progress, you need to challenge tissues. (My mantra “There is no crate rest fairy” fits well in this scenario!)
Okay, what did find with this dog?

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies,
exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted,
because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!

P.S. Are you looking to include SHOCKWAVE in your practice?
|
I have just the thing! I highly recommend the unit that I have and use at my clinic. And now, I can bring it to you!
And if you're interested, give me a shout and I'll happily send along all of the details. RADIAL SHOCKWAVE rules! I am loving it as an adjunct to my other therapies, and am seeing amazing results with it when used on osteoarthritis, tendinosis lesions, and lumbosacral disc disease. (There are more things it can treat, but these three things keep it hopping
at my clinic!)
The price is right (in Canadian Dollars), and I can ship anywhere in North America. (For those of you overseas, I can put you in touch with local distributors nearer to you!)
Okay... so check it out if you've ever been interested!

P.S. Helpful Hints for NEW Members...
1. If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having issues with watching the videos, you will
want to cut and paste the following URL into your browser bar:
Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the
website (i.e. https:// etc), and it takes them to the site with THAT prefix. The rest of the site isn't 'secured, only the sign up page. So, the website thinks you are trying to watch a video from unauthorized site.
2. As a member, if you want to search a particular topic, then find the little white
search bar on the upper right hand corner of the page (after you log in as a member). Type in your search and be given a full listing of content related to your search words!
3. And, if you have any issues, check out WWW.FOURLEG.COM/Help to address any FAQs regarding the website or membership difficulties!
