Just a couple of updates:
I broke off a piece of one of my molars this past week! So I had to go to the dentist. I've been avoiding the dentist for a couple of years now... since that same tooth had some sensitivities, and the last time I was in at the dentist, he casually said, "If this doesn't work, you might need a root canal like my wife did!" To heck with that! I did psychological pain management strategies and had gotten rid of the sensitivity (unless I was
stressed... then I couldn't eat anything cold!) So I was able to get an appointment on Friday, and "Hooray!" I only needed a filling to build it up and restructure it! Happy Happy!
Other than that, I am busy. As a general rule, I hesitate to tell any stories about the ranch and my life on the ranch. I know that some of you are vegetarian or vegan and disapprove of such things. My apologies. However, this is a real part of my life, and at this time of year, it is exhausting me with the increase in duties. In particular, we are branding the calves next weekend. This means a big busy day, with lots of
moving parts, and for me, it will see me cooking for 40 - 50 people. So, last week, I made 90 hamburger patties and froze them, 8 dozen cookies and froze them, as well as 5 pies - all frozen as well (my Mom is making an additional 5). Five trips to grocery stores. I still need to get buns, beer, and a bit of liquor. Then next Friday, I bake those pies, peel and boil 30 pounds of potatoes, make potato salad, and start moving tables and chairs. All in all, it is
encompassing every spare moment of my life!
On a lighter note, I decided to get back into making Kombucha. One batch brewed and bottled, and the next one on the go!

But enough about me, onto your learning for the week...
BLOG:
Shoulder injury?
Check the thoracic spine too!!!!
|
|
Sit up tall. Raise one arm up and above your head. Bring it down. Then test your other arm. Bring it down. Then try to raise both arms simultaneously. Did you notice that at the end of the movement, you felt it in your thoracic spine? Now try to do the same exercises with your back rounded. It should feel different. That’s because your thoracic spine and ribcage need to have
proper mobility in order for the glenohumeral joint to be optimally positioned an allow for full shoulder ROM.

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies,
exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted,
because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!

P.S. Helpful Hints for NEW Members...
1. If you are new to FourLeg and happen to be having issues with watching the videos, you will
want to cut and paste the following URL into your browser bar:
Sometimes after people sign up on the secure page on FourLeg, their computer remembers the secure address for the
website (i.e. https:// etc), and it takes them to the site with THAT prefix. The rest of the site isn't 'secured, only the sign up page. So, the website thinks you are trying to watch a video from unauthorized site.
2. As a member, if you want to search a particular topic, then find the little white
search bar on the upper right hand corner of the page (after you log in as a member). Type in your search and be given a full listing of content related to your search words!
3. And, if you have any issues, check out WWW.FOURLEG.COM/Help to address any FAQs regarding the website or membership difficulties!
