You are receiving this e-blast because you signed up for these e-blasts on FourLeg.com. If for some reason, this makes you unhappy... then unsubscribe at the bottom. But for everyone else... HEY! Let's get on with the show! This past week / weekend, I was in Surrey, UK for Vet Festival. Wow! What a great event. Outdoor tents, lots of people. Amazing lectures. So, firstly, I came in a full day too early. I never do this, but it
turns out I booked my flight an entire day too early!!! This was okay, as it enabled me to take a couple of naps, workout, get a hot stone massage and go through all of my lectures.
Some of the highlights... I got to meet some of my research guru crushes, and be in the presence of a brain trust of amazing people. Super exciting was meeting Dr. Ronaldo Da Costa (neurologist extraordinaire). I love his work. I quote his papers. Well, lucky me, but I ended up sitting across from him at our speakers dinner and I can now say that I love him as a human being as well. What an
interesting guy! His upbringing. His work ethic. His travels. His mind! I tried not to be a giddy school girl... but I did get my picture with him!
I also got to meet Dr. Antonio Pozzi - ortho surgeon / researcher guru. He sat beside me at dinner! Super exciting as well. I did get to talk to him a wee bit in the evening as well (about post op cruciate protocols!)
Of course, I got to see and chat with Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick. It was his event. I also got to wrap his ankle at the end of the event, because he had twisted it in the field taking a missed step. We applied some ice, or rather cold beer first.
Equally exciting was getting to catch up with some old friends. Thank you Sara & Julia for always making sure I have a dinner date when I'm in the UK! From this experience I can also recommend a couple of new (to me) gins!!! Monkey 47 and Silent Pool! If you like gin, you must try these! If you're not a gin drinker, these could convert you!
Okay, some pictures for you... and then your learning...

The Cats & Dogs of Marketing

I heard a great analogy recently about marketing. More specifically, about marketing to your existing clients versus marketing to attract new clients. Your tactics to do so should be different, because one of those customers is more like a cat, whereas the other one is more like a dog.
And, you can't really treat them (or market to them) in the same way.

Are you getting burnt out in your canine rehab / physio career?
|
|
What Is Burnout? Wikipedia defines occupational burnout as the result of long-term, unresolvable, job stress. It can also occur when you have worked in a physically or emotionally draining role for a long time. Additionally, you can also experience burnout when your efforts at work have failed to produce the results that you expected, and you feel deeply disillusioned as a result. It is a state of physical and emotional
exhaustion.
We all likely go through this because of the care-giver role we play (no matter the patient species!!). So, let’s look at what you can do to prevent, reduce, or recover from burnout!

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the
exercises. There's so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains
to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
