Happy Canada Day & Happy 4th of July!
Just a couple of updates:
1. Have you heard of CAM? Canine Arthritis Management? It's a fabulous website to help both veterinary practitioners, allied animal healthcare practitioners, and the public learn more about canine arthritis and what can be done about it. AND... I did a bit of a conversational blog with them that is currently being featured! Check it out at:
|
Then be sure to like them on Facebook, and their YouTube channel, etc. etc. And poke around the website. Lots of information for you and to share with your clients!
2. I get lots of questions about my teaching schedule. I'll try to update my page "Where's Laurie" on a more regular basis. Check out the next offering for Basic Manual Therapy for the Canine Spine and Advanced Manual Therapy for the Canine Spine in California in October. I'll be in Europe (Belgium) in November afterwards! https://www.fourleg.com/Where-is-Laurie

OKAY, enough about me, onto your learning for the week...
|
|
Usually, I try to find blog inspiration from those that I assume are smarter than me. However, this week, I want to pass along a little story of a very interesting case, and an off the wall thought I had about it. {It turns out I was the smart one this time!}
So, this case was a typical cruciate tear. Trauma induced (owner slipped on ice and fell on the poor dog). Young female dog. No other known issues. The owner opted for an extracapsular method for repair.
All was fine. She took the dog to the veterinarian, had the surgery done and came for physio and underwater treadmill therapy. She had a home program. And let me assure you that this owner is the kind of owner that would DO the exercises.
However, at 4 weeks, there was still puffy swelling along the line of the incision.
Keep on reading... this is a fascinating case that I think was addressed by unconventional thinking on my part!!!

NEXT SERIES OF SPINE COURSES in the USA
|
|
I can't sugar coat this. You need manual therapy training. You need to be able to assess and treat the spine. It's imperative! Problems here can cause lameness and pain! You need this information!
AND... if you already have chiropractic training, you are eligible to take the Advanced Manual Therapy for the Canine Spine course. I've taught tons of veterinarians with chiro training and my Advanced course is a HUGE hit with that crowd! If you've never taken one of my manual therapy courses, start with the Basic course. Trust me, it's more advanced than anything you got in your basic training canine rehab training!

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies,
exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted,
because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
