Blog - The New Baseline & Accepting 'What Is'...
And Four Leg Info on the Thoracic Spine!
The life updates:
I survived teaching the Advanced Canine Rehab Course last weekend, and that is a huge stressor now complete and over! Phew. Not to say that their isn't one million things I need to catch up on now, but I feel like I can breath again!
Otherwise, my week's events are pretty much captured in this week's blog... along with a relevant clinical message!
Okay, so wishing all of us best of luck with the week ahead!
Current regular feature... Asking for help...
|
Hooray! This week I am using some of the content that you guys created for me! THANK YOU!
Help me to create some content! I'm asking for the following:
- Do you have a favourite exercise, trick, or tip that you've found beneficial with your patients? Would you be willing to share that with others?
- Send me a little video of that 'thing'. Please include (either within the video or in writing) who you are and where you're from (business/clinic & location) and a description of your exercise, trick, or tip, and why you find it to be so fabulous.
- Let me highlight you! Share with colleagues! And win stuff! (I don't know what yet... I'll figure that out... It'll be FourLeg Stuff of some sort!)
Thank you in advance! You guys are great! I know you'll have some awesome stuff to share. I can't wait to see what you send me!
Oh... by the way, you can send them to this e-mail (Laurie@FourLeg.com), likely via WeSendit.com or HighTail.com, or Dropbox or Google Docs... (but send me an e-mail before hand so I don't just start opening random attachments please! I'd like to remain virus free!)

The New Baseline and Acceptance of ‘What Is’
|
|
Check out my back yard! This is what I woke up to (September 29, 2019)… It’s the new baseline for weather, and I’ve got no choice but to accept what is! I just wanted to share the picture. Now on to the blog!
This week has come with some lessons that all tie to this theme: Acceptance of ‘What Is’ and working from a ‘New Baseline’. When writing blog posts, I look at literature, I look at other human physical therapy blog posts, and if not inspired, I look at my own life, my recent cases, or my family, in order to write a fresh blog post for the FourLeg Family of Followers. Today as I sit down to write this blog, I
found myself looking at the past week’s events and found a string of happening that all tie together. Coincidence? Or the universe slapping me upside the head to get me to notice a theme? (Honestly, it’s likely the latter!)
So, this week, we sold our calves, hubby had a scan to determine the extent of metastases of his carcinoid tumours, one of the shelties was hit with idiopathic geriatric vestibulitis, and a long term regular patient of mine had a sudden onset of mild neurological signs. (A number of other things transpired as well… but let’s focus on these 4 things.)

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the
exercises. There's so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains
to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!

- Now, to get on, you
need to sign up with a NEW username and password. (Password can be the same as what you you to get into the Member's area). Next time you want 'in', it should remember you.
- Pick a user name that you want displayed.
- Answer questions. Post questions.
- Sign your posts please... It's nice to reply to a person by name!
- If you want to post a document or a picture, you can drag it into the message box or scroll down, click attachments, and then 'add files'.
