And Four Leg Info on... Outcome Measures!
The life updates:
This comes to you from Tofino, BC, Canada.
Hubby and I are trying to do a better job of 'living'. So, this weekend we are on the west coast of Canada (Vancouver Island) staying at an amazing luxury resort just on the ocean. (I highly recommend The Wickaninnish Inn.) Check out the pictures below. Old forest cedars (me in the hotel-provided orange raincoat - very pylon-looking!), the view from the room, and two from our storm watching deck! It's been a relaxing weekend!
So, that's all for now!
Okay, now on with your learning...

Lorna has been kind enough to submit a couple of videos... enjoy this 3-part compilation about warming up your dog, and some simple conditioning exercises for your canine athletes. Not only do the videos provide good information, but they are also videos that Lorna uses for her online fitness and conditioning class. Looking to increase your exposure? Looking for something to
market? Looking for something to make your stand out from your competition? Think about doing something similar!
Check out this video and also Lorna's webpage: www.caninerehab.ca
I hope you enjoy the video!

Abduction Angles… Technique is important!
|
|
For many years, I’ve been teaching canine rehab students how to assess glenohumeral abduction angles. And for years, I hear myself say the same thing. “More Extension!” I’ve found it interesting to see how people perform this technique, and I’ve witnessed such differences in technique and therefore differing results.
Well, there is a research article that looked at exactly this phenomenon.
Jones SC, Howard J, Bertran J, Johnson B, Pozzi A, Litsky AS, Wittum TE, Kieves N. Measurement of Shoulder Abduction Angles in Dogs: An Ex Vivo Study of Accuracy and Repeatability. Vet Comp Orthop Traumatol 2019; 32(06): 427-432.

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
