And Four Leg Info on My Clinic & Members' Advice!
The life updates:
With Christmas over, I can confess that I packed on a hefty 13 pounds!!! Seriously, I am a very easy keeper! I'd make a great cow! It'll be okay. I'm already down by 5! That's the light and cheerful side.
On the other side, over Christmas my eldest son and his girlfriend were staying with us. He had two major anxiety attacks over very minor things. We've not seen him this bad. The good thing is that we got to 'see it' and subsequently have gotten him directed to people he can talk to. It's also opened the door to be able to talk about his mental health in an open manner and ask questions, give suggestions, and offer
support.
And it was the straw that broke this camel's back! It made me take a step back for a moment. It put me over the top. My bandwidth for being able to 'do more' is at capacity. So I thought long and hard about what I could release in order to free up more time, mental space, and energy. I went through all the things in my life... not many can I give up. But I came up with one thing. That was my overseas teaching. I
cancelled all of my 2020 overseas teaching on the eve of December 30th. I had declined some invitations already, but there were 3 that I had already committed to. I e-mailed or sent messages to cancel and everyone was very gracious about it. They were all far enough into the future that this decision wouldn't impact finances for any of them. So I felt good about that. But I also feel disappointed in myself. However, I'll be upfront. I'm hanging on by a
thread. While my husband is currently doing very well. His cancer diagnosis means that we do a lot of things differently, and I am always the one looking for what to do next and how to provide the optimal healing environment... and it's exhausting. But that's the battle we're were facing, and it's most important that we do. So MY health has to be important as well. All of that to say that I'm sorry to any of you that were hoping to see me overseas in
2020. I'll see what next year brings. But this year I'll be a bit more of a 'home-body'.
That's all for now!
So, now on with your learning...

Stairs versus Ramps Continued (Guest Blog)
|
|
This guest blog post is an e-mail response I received in regards to last week's blog post on Ramps, Stairs, or What? It's from Sonya Bevan, B.Sc. (Physio), Dip Canine Behaviour Science & Technology). I thought she had some great point from her own personal experience and she also had links to a couple of great videos that she created.
"Thanks for that great blog on a really practical topic. I have the PetLoader and highly recommend it. It’s a little heavy but I used mine everyday with my amputee and I also used a lighter ramp. The ramp was easier for me but so much harder for her, so I sucked up the weight and changed my mindset to getting my biceps curls in every day. She struggled with the ramp..."

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
