And Four Leg content regarding Spondylosis!!
The life updates:
I finally got a hair cut! It was 8 months (or more) since my last one!
Web-guy has fixed the forum.
We finally got out to our cottage this past weekend.
My clinic is busy!
The meeting with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario went well (non-vets might be able to continue to use laser and radial shockwave in clinical practice!)
However, I still need your help with this issue in Ontario. More info below.

What I spoke about 2 weeks ago was this:
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) (the regulatory body) passed position & policy statements that categorize class 3B & 4 Therapeutic Lasers as High Risk energy tools (along with laser surgery, cryosurgery, MRI, radiology, etc.) and as such, have put them in a category that allows only veterinarians to use them or directly supervise their use. They categorized Shockwave as needing veterinary delegation specifically. The latter is perhaps fine
for Focused Shockwave, however Radial Shockwave is different, not requiring sedation, much more comfortable, and commonly used in rehab and physiotherapy practice.
So we had a meeting with the CVO and select practitioners last week. It went well. However, the CVO Registrar and Staff are not the ones that ultimately make the decision. A vote is still needed to amend the Policy and Position Statements so that the many non-veterinarians that use laser therapy & radial shockwave will be able to continue to do so.
Where this next goes is that we also need to prove that Physiotherapists as well as Registered Veterinary Technicians with training in Animal Rehabilitation are SAFE PRACTITIONERS! Can I ask for your help?
I NEED LETTERS OF SUPPORT (mainly from Veterinarians)!
To be considered a subject matter expert, I am looking for letters that cover topics such as:
- Laurie Edge-Hughes taught me safe & effective use of modalities (such as laser, shockwave, etc.)
- Laurie taught me effective physical assessment skills and how to use clinical reasoning to make a PHYSICAL / Pathofunctional / FUNCTIONAL diagnosis
- Laurie taught me how to plan treatments for rehab cases
- Laurie taught me manual therapy skills
You get the gist.
I am looking for DOZENS of letters. Please! Please! Thank you to those that already sent one. I appreciate it so very much.
Thank you in advance for considering my request!

In this NEW section, I want to inspire you to GO BACK THROUGH some of the OLD Four Leg Education Modules!
So this time I did a search on FourLeg using the term Spondylosis and then I searched the term spine to see if there was anything that mentioned spondylosis in regards to spine. Here's what I came up with for:

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
