Return to Sport Testing - A Case Study!
Blog - Outcome Measures - Yay or Nay?
And Four Leg content regarding Vestibulitis!!
The life updates:
It snowed about a foot on Friday night! Oh my goodness, why do I live here? Meanwhile on the other side of Canada, they had 29C!!!
So, this past week, two of the shelties had vet appointment. Novi had her first puppy vet visit. All went well. She loved everyone. The new to me oldest sheltie Xena (11yo) had her first vet visit with MY vet clinic. We're going to try Phenobarbitol to see if we can reduce the frequency of her seizures.
The clinic is busy. (Anyone want to move to Calgary to treat dogs?)
Oooh! And the interviews for the Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapist of the Year Award are starting to be put up on the IAVRPT Facebook Page. When they're all up, then folks can vote! (However, you need to join the IAVRPT in order to vote. Nudge. Nudge. just sayin'...)
:)
Still asking for support!

I NEED LETTERS OF SUPPORT (mainly from Veterinarians, but I'll take any and all of them)!
To be considered a subject matter expert, I am looking for letters that cover topics such as:
- Laurie Edge-Hughes taught me safe & effective use of modalities (such as laser, shockwave, etc.)
- Laurie taught me effective physical assessment skills and how to use clinical reasoning to make a PHYSICAL / Pathofunctional / FUNCTIONAL diagnosis
- Laurie taught me how to plan treatments for rehab cases
- Laurie taught me manual therapy skills
You get the gist.
I am looking for DOZENS of letters. Please! Please! Thank you to those that already sent one. I appreciate it so very much. (Send to Laurie@FourLeg.com)
Thank you in advance for considering my request!

Return to Sport Testing!
|
|
This Training Video has been a long time in the making. It was a concept. Then I sent out a survey. They I created a checklist of things to test for return to sport. And then I had the perfect patient to test it on! Here is a real case where I tested my Return to Sport Check List for a flyball dog!
Bonus - the check list is available for members in the Articles section (under subheading Canine Athlete Considerations & Outcome Measures.).
Click the link to go to FourLeg, Member's can then Login, Click Video Training, and scroll on down to the bottom to find Video Training 211!
Enjoy!

Outcome Measures - Yay or Nay?

I came across in interesting blog. It makes some good points and expresses some thoughts that I’ve had myself. First off, the title is Outcome Measures Suck. Eek! We’re not supposed to say that outload or even think that, right? But I admit, I have thought that! More than once. Okay, so let’s dive into it.
The blog was written by Adam Meakins of www.thesports.physio . He’s a specialist physiotherapist with additional qualifications as a strength and conditioning specialist, and here’s a link to the blog: https://www.thesports.physio/2020/09/13/outcome-measures-suck/
I’ll recap the main points:
- He dislikes and often doesn’t use outcome measures, stating that they offer very little for most patients and clinicians.
- “I don’t think outcome measures ... (click to keep reading)

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
