Blog -
Clinical Reasoning: Left hind leg lameness in a 1-year-old Lab
And Four Leg content on ELBOWS
The life updates:
As I write this a chinook is blowing in. The temperatures are above freezing but the wind is crazy! However, it all changes and tomorrow we could get a foot of snow! It'll be a white Christmas after all!
Otherwise, on the Covid front we're still in a bit of a lock down, but fortunately the clinic can stay open. And we are busy! We are following all bylaws and protocols and letting owners come in with their dogs. It's actually rather endearing because the owners are just as excited to get out and come see us (and have other humans to talk to) as their dogs are!!! I had one client say, "If it were socially appropriate I'd be jumping up
and down and wiggling all over too! I'm so excited to have an outing!" I joked that we should be marketing this novel benefit!
Okay, and just to reiterate what is happening with FourLeg:
- Your price has gone down! The monthly membership will be $20, quarterly will be $55, and yearly will be $220. More affordable to stay and learn at your own pace, choosing the topics you need, when you need them!
- Weekly blogs continue but new content will be introduced at a slower pace.
- I'm thinking of adding a weekly wee short video component (Rehab Minutes)
- FourLeg will morph into a library - the most extensive, largest library of canine rehab education.
- More searchable - I'm working with my web designer to make FourLeg more useable as a library... and give it a fresh new look as well. Stay tuned
- I'm still not sure what to do with the Forum yet...
All in all, I have so much love and gratitude for all fo you! Thank you for being on this journey with me!
Okay, so on with the show!
Still asking for support!

I need LETTERS OF SUPPORT (mainly from Veterinarians, but I'll take ANY and all of them)!
To be considered a subject matter expert, I am looking for letters that cover topics such as:
- Laurie Edge-Hughes taught me safe & effective use of modalities (such as laser, shockwave, etc.)
- Laurie taught me effective physical assessment skills and how to use clinical reasoning to make a PHYSICAL / Pathofunctional / FUNCTIONAL diagnosis
- Laurie taught me how to plan treatments for rehab cases
- Laurie taught me manual therapy skills
You get the gist.
I am looking for DOZENS of letters. Please! Please! Thank you to those that already sent one. I appreciate it so very much. (Send to Laurie@FourLeg.com)
Thank you in advance for considering my request AND THANK YOU TO THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FOR ME!

GUEST BLOG by Carrie Smith, BScPT, CCRT of Kemptville Canine Centre (in Ontario, Canada).
Here, Carrie presents her clinical reasoning for a recent patient. Using the Clinical Reasoning Form (that I linked to in last week's blog), she goes through the thinking that leads to a pathofunctional clinical diagnosis.

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
