What's new?
Well, Christmas was small, but we did have a meal with my family of 4 and my mother. (All 'legal' and in accordance with our current lockdown restrictions! It's nice this year to have a long weekend around Christmas! My boys commissioned a wonderful painting for Christmas to give to me - see below. It's by a very talented local artist... and I love it!
We had a white Christmas... and it's still white out! It is pretty however!
On the clinic front, I am now starting my extra hours to cover a staff maternity leave. My first 'long' day was supposed to be last Tuesday, but we had a huge snow storm and almost the whole day cancelled! So, I guess that could be construed as 'easing into it'!!! Ha ha!
Okay! Enough about me!

FOUR LEG IS UPDATING! CHANGING! GETTING BETTER!
|
|
I looked for a picture to go with the announcement and I liked that this one was colourful, talking about winning together, and laughed about the sustainability part. What's funny is that I need to change FourLeg so that I can sustain myself. I'm a bit of a one-woman show, other than a part time assistant that helps with the newsletter and sourcing articles and blogs. I don't have a team and I don't want to grow FourLeg in that direction. While some folks promote
growth for a new year, I on the other hand, am promoting sustainability!
So, Four Leg needs to change so that we all benefit!
- LOWER prices!
- Access to the full Four Leg LIBRARY of educational content!
- (and I encourage you to use it as a Library to help you on a case by case basis)
- MORE great content but LESS frequently!
- TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!!
And it will all tie in with a new look and a more searchable website (when my web-guy can get to it)!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

By the way, I'm still asking for testimonials.
PLEASE, would any veterinarian that I have ever taught on the subject of canine rehab (assessment, making a 'rehab diagnosis', treatment, exercise prescription, modalities, etc., etc.) - Live, or even if within FourLeg, please write me a letter of recommendation. The intention is to prove ME as a credible source on these
topics. Crazy... but this has been suggested to me as a way to help prove myself as a content expert when in discussions with the Vet Colleges (Vet Boards) up here! And, it doesn't matter where in the world you are from. PLEASE and THANK YOU!
(You can e-mail them to me at Laurie@FourLeg.com. I am so incredibly grateful to those of you that have helped me out with this already.)
Let's get onto your learning for the week...
BLOG:
Reflective Practice – Learning to Practice as a Professional
|
|
This week’s topic is about reflective practice. This is the practice of using reflection as a means of learning from experiences to advance one’s expertise, but also as a means to problem solve through complex problems that arise in clinical practice.
Reflective practice is something most people first formally encounter at university. This may be reflecting on a patient case, or an elective, or other experience. Reflection has emerged as a reoccurring theme in many allied health professions in the last several decades.
In physical therapy, reflection has been used improve patient care, better support clinical supervision, improve collaboration, and advance clinical reasoning. It is often helpful to use a framework to guide your reflective practice.
Another resource to use in your practice!

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc,
etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the
Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
