THE NEW FOUR LEG LOOK IS LIVE!
Oh my goodness, so the transition to the new website has NOT been smooth. I couldn't add new pages. I couldn't edit pages. It went up before too soon and not when I was ready for it to be live. I hadn't gotten around to categorizing all of the videos. I'm supposed to be able to categorize the videos into more than one category... that should be coming! But, in the end, it will okay. Right now, it's still chaos! So,
thank you for your patience!
So, for this week, I answered the Forum questions!
On the home front, hubby's cancer scans show no progression (in 17 months). We'll take it!
The clinic is busy - really busy! And I'm doing longer hours... so the drinking of Gin has commenced again. It got me through the first stretch of Covid. It will get me through the next. Oh, and on Saturday night, I slept for a full 10 hours!! (Don't worry... I'm okay!! I'll be okay!!)
Alrighty... On with the show!!

By the way, I'm still asking for testimonials.
PLEASE, would any veterinarian that I have ever taught on the subject of canine rehab (assessment, making a 'rehab diagnosis', treatment, exercise prescription, modalities, etc., etc.) - Live, or even if within FourLeg, please write me a letter of recommendation. The intention is to prove ME as a credible source on these topics. Crazy...
but this has been suggested to me as a way to help prove myself as a content expert when in discussions with the Vet Colleges (Vet Boards) up here! And, it doesn't matter where in the world you are from. PLEASE and THANK YOU!
(You can e-mail them to me at Laurie@FourLeg.com. I am so incredibly grateful to those of you that have helped me out with this already.)
Let's get onto your learning for the week...

Sensory Integration and Syringomyelia
– An Accidental Finding
|
|
I made an interesting finding the other day with one of my patients. The dog has Chiari malformation / syringomyelia (CMSM), and occasionally has ‘fits’ where she gets low, goes into a scratching pattern, and cries. Since there’s not much (other than medication) that traditional veterinary medicine can do, the owner is interested in anything that we can provide from a physiotherapy perspective.
To date she has been receiving craniosacral therapy. This seems to have some positive effects. We have also used alpha-stim ear clips to provide cranial electrical stimulation, which also seems to have some positive effects. By ‘positive effects’, I mean we are monitoring how long the dog will go between ‘fits’.
She was in on Saturday and the owner had said that she had done very well since her last treatment in November (about 1.5 months ago) until just that week, when she had little ‘fits’ every day since then.
What did I do on the last treatment? Craniosacral to the head and neck; Craniosacral / Fascial unwinding via the tail; Laser to the skull (2 J/cm2, multiple points using a Spectravet Superpulsed multiprobe); and treatment was conducted on a Respond PEMF mat. Okay, so that treatment seemed to have made an improvement.
This past Saturday’s appointment, I found...

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc,
etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the
Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
