Post-Op ACL Reconstruction and Return to Sport
And A Four Leg Rehab Minute on Loss of Elbow Flexion
The life updates:
Well, I had some days off... but I don't know what goes on with the universe that things go sideways like on cue when I have a bit of free time! (Okay, not so crazy as what's happening in Texas and various other US States with their weather. I'm thinking of you guys down there! Stay safe. Stay strong.)
For me, I'm jumping through hoops as we've been randomly selected by Service Canada for an Audit related to our temporary foreign worker on the ranch. There's no big worry, as we're very legitimate, however, there is a lot of paperwork to sort through!!! I don't need this!!
Last week Hubby and I celebrated our 27th Wedding Anniversary! So we went out for dinner. Our first dinner out since October. We'll now wait until my Birthday in May to go again. I feel sorry for the restaurants trying to keep afloat during this pandemic!
Okay, that's about it! So on with the show!

Post-Op ACL Reconstruction and Return to Sport
|

Remember the blog about why dog owners post rehab questions on Facebook? Well, I found another article that plays into the comments about the rehab professionals not being able to help their dogs get back to sport, or were unable to prescribe adequate exercises, or couldn’t adequately train the dogs and humans to do the exercises.
This article is ‘human’ because that’s where there is research about such things. It is a look at symmetry between hamstring and quadriceps strength after ACL reconstruction and makes mention of return to sport. Here’s the paper:
Harput G, Tunay VB, Ithurburn MP. Quadriceps and Hamstring Strength Symmetry After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Prospective Study. J Sport Rehabil. 2020 Jan 24:1-8.
The part that caught my eye was in the conclusion.

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!

Still asking for support!
|

I need LETTERS OF SUPPORT (mainly from Veterinarians, but I'll take ANY and all of them)!
To be considered a subject matter expert, I am looking for letters that cover topics such as:
- Laurie Edge-Hughes taught me safe & effective use of modalities (such as laser, shockwave, etc.)
- Laurie taught me effective physical assessment skills and how to use clinical reasoning to make a PHYSICAL / Pathofunctional / FUNCTIONAL diagnosis
- Laurie taught me how to plan treatments for rehab cases
- Laurie taught me manual therapy skills
You get the gist.
I am looking for DOZENS of letters. Please! Please! Thank you to those that already sent one. I appreciate it so very much. (Send to Laurie@FourLeg.com)
Thank you in advance for considering my request AND THANK YOU TO THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FOR ME!
|
And that's a wrap! Have a great week ahead everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
Laurie
