You are receiving this e-blast because you signed up for these e-blasts on FourLeg.com. If for some reason, this makes you unhappy... then unsubscribe at the bottom. But for everyone else... HEY! Let's get on with the show! The Four Leg Library of Education
What's New?
1. I'm still pulling my hair out with the website... Webguy is still working on it. The hosting company changed servers... and now a bunch of stuff won't talk to other stuff (in computer terms). So one day, it'll be great again! (Right?) I hate technology sometimes, and more so when I don't have control over it! Apologies to those that this has affected! (P.S. Webguy has created a temporary fix... but wait! I'm
still in a muddle - read further in the blog section. Argh...)
2. Oldest son has left for Tugaske, Saskatchewan (very much in the middle of nowhere) to do a Luthier course (making / fixing guitars). We hope this will be something that gives him passion and drive! (Fly little bird, fly!!!)
3. I'm counting down until spring! I'm tired of winter!
4. If you're not a member of FourLeg yet? Why Not??? It contains 10 years of content that you can use as a library to learn what you want when you want it!
So, that's it for the updates... On with the show!!

By the way, I'm still asking for testimonials.
PLEASE, would any veterinarian that I have ever taught on the subject of canine rehab (assessment, making a 'rehab diagnosis', treatment, exercise prescription, modalities, etc., etc.) - Live, or even if within FourLeg, please write me a letter of recommendation. The intention is to prove ME as a credible source on these topics. Crazy...
but this has been suggested to me as a way to help prove myself as a content expert when in discussions with the Vet Colleges (Vet Boards) up here! And, it doesn't matter where in the world you are from. PLEASE and THANK YOU!
(You can e-mail them to me at Laurie@FourLeg.com. I am so incredibly grateful to those of you that have helped me out with this already.)
Let's get onto your learning for the week...
This will be the BLOG eventually:
Seizure-Precipitating Factors in Epileptic Dogs
And why you should know about them!

|
I found an interesting review of a paper.
This is the paper:
Forsgård JA, Metsähonkala L, Kiviranta AM, et al. Seizure precipitating factors in dogs with idiopathic epilepsy. J Vet Intern Med. 2019;33(2):701-707.
I’m going to start with the preamble as is: “Humans with epilepsy frequently report precipitating factors associated with their seizures, which are numerous and varied and have included stress, difficulty sleeping, infectious disease, hormonal factors, and missing medication, among others. In dogs, estrus has a reported association with cluster seizures, with intact female dogs clustering during estrus and for ≤1 to
3 months after. Other potential seizure-precipitating factors in canine epileptics include visits to the veterinary clinic, groomer, and/or boarding facility.”
So, the study was of 50 owners of dogs with idiopathic epilepsy, asking about triggering events.

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc,
etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the
Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
